Hot chocolate and bughouse

A full long table on the back patio at Kava Social, players turning to the camera from their boards under purple and red lights

“A full house, a cold breeze, and two dates for the calendar.”

Harold Gonzalez · Club director

Full house on the patio, and the first properly chilly night of the season. 🧣 Cool breeze, clear sky, hot chocolate on the tables.

Social Sunday means anything goes, so we went for chaos: hand and brain bughouse. Two boards, captured pieces passed to your partner to drop back in, and on every board one player calls the piece while the other has to find the move. Nobody is fully in control, and everybody is talking. ♟️🔥

Then the announcements. 🎃 Sunday 1 November is Costume Chess Night: come dressed up and play. ⚔️ Sunday 15 November is Battle for the Bay 2, and this time Tampa Knights come to us.

Tuesday is study night, with five chapters left before the rematch. See you on the patio. 🌴
