Rolling centers under the tiki

“Rain outside, pawn centers on the move under the tiki. Spirits high, three days after Tampa.”
Harold Gonzalez · Club director
Chapter 33 of 40 Lessons for the Club Player: the mobile pawn center. Two central pawns side by side, still free to advance, and a simple question with no simple answer: when do you push? Too early and they become targets. Too late and the moment is gone. Played right, the center rolls forward, takes space and shoves the enemy pieces out of the way. 📚
We worked both sides of the board. With the center, you prepare the push until it lands with tempo. Against it, you put pieces on the squares in front of the pawns, hit them with breaks from the side, and make them commit before they are ready. ♟️
The sky opened up again, so the boards moved under the tiki and the lesson carried on. Three days after Tampa, nobody is sulking. The table was loud, the questions were good, and the hunger to get better is real. That is how you answer a loss. 🌧️🔥
Seven chapters left in the book. Thursday is Intermediate+ study at Adobe Kava, and Sunday the club goes to the movies for Grandmasters at 6, then the bracket at 9:15. See you on the patio. 🌴
